From my pal Sandi (with whom I wholeheartedly agree):

I am asking you to GO. If you have legs, and you are breathing Saturday morning, WHEREVER you are, I am asking you to walk outside of your house and GO.  GO for equality.  Don't be scared.  Consider it taking a walk around your neighborhood for justice.  That's all.  Just a nice Saturday morning walk, with some inspirational yelling.  Or just sign holding, that works too.

Many of you may not even live in areas that you feel are affected by this Proposition having passed.  Guess what?  You're wrong if you think that. As long as we are pillaging Constitutions, what's next, re-enslaving black people?  What's next?  Got any rights you especially love and are willing to put up to popular vote?  As long as we are putting fellow citizen's constitutional rights up for popular vote.  Unheard of.

I am always the person many of you can and have depended on.  I am the person who will drive across town to pick you up because your car is broken down.  Or, god forbid, get up at 4am and come get you from jail (you know who you are).  I do a lot of favors and I don't ask for much back.  But this time, I am asking.  I am asking that I don't ever hear again that a "family" member/friend couldn't make it because they were too busy having sex.  Or "I'm just gonna protest from my couch."  Seriously, don't get me started!  Put you body and your voice where your claims and ideals are.  Sadly, one of the chants at the protests have been "Outta the bars, into the streets" as we passed gay bars.  Now why did that chant have to be made up?  Awful.  And besides, there's always beer somewhere later.  Being a spectator isn't what you want to remember later on in life when this momentous, contentious battle is finally won. You want to say, you stood up for equality and you shouted out how you feel.  These are the Days of Rage all over again folks.  This isn't the time to be apathetic.  Especially since that word is mostly made up of pathetic.

If your town is so small that you think there won't be any protests or rallies, START your own.  Just make some signs and stand on a street corner and hopefully people will honk in support.

Please don't sleep in. There's next Saturday for that.

Questions?

Info here:

Tomorrow (Saturday) there will be rallies in support of marriage equality in every single state. If you want to attend an event in your state, go to this page and click on your state name — you'll see the location of any rallies planned here.
