JOHN MCCAIN: "[...] I'll tell ya this: I'll look ya in the eye. There are people who have been here 50, 60, 70 years who came here as children and some of 'em have children or grandchildren who are fighting in Iraq. I'm not interested in calling some kid who's fighting in Iraq and telling him I'm deporting his grandmother.
"I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do it. Anybody who wants to--under this situation I'm talkin' about, that we wanta give an opportunity to stay under certain circumstances. They have to pay a fine, get in the back of the line, take the naturalization test, learn English and do a whole bunch of things, which, in no way, rewards illegal behavior, but makes it very, very, very tough and the first principle is they gotta get in line behind everybody else because those people that came here legally cannot have anybody jump in the line in front of them."
