Salee and her father arrived in Amman on May 24. Maki Al Nazzal, regional coordinator of No More Victims, was there to greet them. Maki managed a medical clinic in Fallujah during the April 2004 Siege, and has worked to assist and protect the civilian population of his city ever since.

I arrived in Amman a little over a week ago, and preparations are underway for Salee’s journey to Greenville, South Carolina. You can follow Salee’s progress by watching the video updates that we’ll be posting here in coming weeks.  You'll see interviews with Salee, her father, and community organizers in Amman, Greenville, and Fallujah.  You’ll also learn more about the hardships Iraqi families face every day.

In this video Maki will introduce you to Salee and her father. Salee will tell you about how she was injured as she played outside her family's home. How a missile fired by a jet landed near them, taking her legs and killing her brother and another child.

Salee and her father would like to express their gratitude to everyone who donated during the Mother’s Day for Peace campaign.  Thanks to all of you, Salee will at last get the care she needs.
